My Project
Abstract
As a teacher, there are many expenses that you put into your class and your students from your own pocket. As a first year teacher, the summer is taken over by curriculum planning, classroom set up, and preparation. New teachers do not have a lot of supplies on had such as; storage, file folders, glue sticks, scissors, books, etc. These all need to be purchased over summer so the classroom is well stocked and ready for the new school year. Many supplies are available through the school, but most are dependent upon whether or not the teacher wants to put in the money. "My First Classroom" is a project to help teachers create a plan to help find supplies for their classroom and save money while they are doing it. This is done by creating items for the classroom, receiving donations, and buying from second hand stores.
Goal
I have a goal to have my first classroom well prepared and ready for the new school year without spending more than $250.
Objectives
If I am able to accomplish this project and have a well prepared classroom for $250 or less, I will have less stress about my class throughout the year. I will not have to worry about not having something because of how much it was and I will have more time to focus on my students and the lessons I create for them.
Deliverables
Once I have my classroom set up, I will create a blog with pictures that I will post and discuss about where I got items or how I made them. I would like to keep this blog updated throughout the year so I can reflect on how my school year went and what items I would make changes to or not use.

About
I am an artist, an organizer, a problem solver, a designer, a time manager, a counselor, a librarian, a nurse, a custodian, a news reporter, a comedian, a detective, and so much more.
My name is Kaitlyn and I am a teacher.
I am from Henderson, NV and I moved to Cedar City to go to SUU. I received a teaching internship in Springville, UT. I am teaching third grade and have 26 wonderful children who fill my classroom with love, laughter, tears, and lots and lots of learning!
I got married June of 2016 to my wonderful husband, Scott. We got married in Las Vegas and then honeymooned in Greece for ten days! We have a dog named Marvel, he is a husky/timber wolf hybrid! We moved up to northern Utah after our wedding.
I love to go on hikes, run, wakeboard, and I LOVE summer! The only thing that gets me through winter is my dog. Marvel loves the snow and that is the only thing that gets me through the cold!
At SUU, I am on track to graduating with an Elementary Education degree with a dual concentration in Early Childhood Education and Mathematics. I am sad that my schooling is coming to an end. I have loved my time at SUU and Cedar City will always be home to me! I am so happy I went to SUU, it has helped shape me into the teacher I am today.
